Edo Speaker, Majority Leader win APC House of Reps ticket

BENIN CITY—SPEAKER of the Edo State House of Assembly, Uyi Igbe, Majority Leader, Philip Shaibu, yesterday picked the House of Representatives tickets in the primaries of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in Edo State, yesterday.
But the result of Ovia federal constituency was delayed after armed thugs invaded venue of the exercise, when the votes were being counted and chased away the officials.
The incumbent member representing Akoko Edo federal constituency, Peter Akpatason and the member representing Owan federal constituency Mr Pally Iriase picked the tickets of their party by polling 296 and 575 respectively.
Another member of the state House of Assembly, Paul Ohonbanmu picked the Egor/Ikpoba Okhai ticket by polling 423 votes as against 108 scored by Andrew Agbonmwanegbe.
Uyi Igbe defeated the incumbent House of Representatives member in Oredo federal constituency, Rasaq Bello-Osagie with 295 votes as against 57 polled by Bello-Osagie.
In Esan South East and North East federal constituency, Onikolease Irabor polled 403 defeating Ebare Chris, the state Commissioner for Budget, who polled 134.
