SUSPENSION Senate Leader Ndoma-Egba, guber aspirant fight back

SENATE Leader, Senator Victor Ndoma-Egba, has described the suspension slammed on him, one of the governorship aspirants in Cross River State, Goddy Jeddy Agba, a former National Publicity Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Mr. Venatius Ikem, and the member of House of Representatives for Ikom/ Boki Constituency by the state chapter of the party as a joke taken too far.

Ndoma-Egba, reacting to the suspension, at the weekend, dismissed it, saying that though he had not been notified of any such suspension, if it was true, it was the action of frustrated people.
Although he said the said suspension was a non-issue, the Senate Leader told newsmen in Abuja that while he was yet to be officially notified of the purported suspension, the move by the Cross River chapter of the party to suspend him would amount to nothing.
“I’ve heard the rumour; I don’t believe that the state chapter of the PDP will display such crass ignorance. If they did, then it’s a pity and quite unfortunate. It would be a comedy of very frustrated people, ‘’ the senator stated.
He, however, promised to throw more light on the issue later.
Cross River State Chapter of the PDP had, on Friday, said it had suspended Ndoma-Egba, Agba and Ikem, among others.
The state Chairman of the party, Ntufam John Okon, who announced the suspension, alleged that the affected persons instituted a court case against the party, among other reasons.
He announced that former Governor Donald Duke was not included on the suspension list because there was nothing incriminating him as participating in inducing party national officers and corrupting recently held ward congress delegates.
It was gathered that those suspended were strong members of the PDP who seemed not to be on the same page with the party’s policy of “conclave” where the government of the day handpicks whoever should stand for election.
The suspension took place less than 24 hours after the governorship aspirant, Agba, arrived Calabar after being away on health grounds, and welcomed by a large crowd at the Holy Child Secondary School, Calabar.
Agba was accompanied by Duke among other political heavy weights from the state.
Duke, in his speech, expressed dismay at the alleged deliberate creation of a divide within the party and accused his successor (Governor Liyel Imoke) of insincerity on the manner he was handling the state’s affair.
He decried the alleged political exclusion policy of the Imoke-led administration in the build-up to next year’s gubernatorial election, wondering why his successor would seek to deliberately exclude the likes of Agba from running for the governor of the state
